iPhone 5 Concept Commercial

While YouTubing(If this isn’t a word it should be) I came accross this very nicely done iPhone 5 Commercial. Obviously this is just a concept, but it actually demonstrates how a translucent iPhone could actually be pretty cool. I have seen quite a few images of a transparent iPhone and there are still a few things that bother me about the concept.

Where would they put the motherboard?

Those of you following news around the current iPhone build know that it’s hard enough for the designers to cram everything an iPhone needs into the small footprint it already has. That’s strike one for this concept.

How would it be back lit?

I’m sure this thing would work great in the day time, but what about at night? A transparent phone would have to have a really clever way of lighting everything up. I have to say though, if anyone could figure it out, it would be Apple.

What about privacy?

I’m thinking I could no longer have private text conversations and put my phone face down if it were transparent. This would most likely be a big drawback in terms of usability.

What will it look like broken?

Lets face it. An all transparent iPhone would most likely be pretty fragile. So knowing how it will look broken is a good thing to know as most of us would probably break it.

Either way, This Video was really well done. I have to give Dakota Adney a big thumbs up on the level of quality on this commercial. It looks like a commercial Apple could have actually produced had they had a transparent iPhone.

Uhhh you’re an idiot… lol. It’s not a transparent phone. I can’t believe I’m actually having to explain this. It had some sort of camera system against the back of the phone that all work together like a single camera to display that IMAGE on the screen. It’s not a see thru phone dude. It’s like a one sided invisibility cloak.

From the Video the phone very much appeared to me as a transparent phone. I guess that’s because 28 seconds in the video they briefly show you the other side of the phone. I would think that the “one sided invisibility cloak” would be tough to pull off with any technology that exist today.

Sorry I had to delete your previous comment regarding the thickness of the glass. I can’t allow profanity on the blog. Insults are not tolerated either but I let that one pass.

Diamond is transparent. Does that make diamond fragile?

Valid Point, I assumed they would make a transparent phone out of commonly used materials today. I suppose advancements in glass technology could render a much tougher screen without sacrificing too much thickness.
